Republican party to investigate use of CRISPR-Cas to remove specific people from populations

A spokesman for the Republican Party has revealed that they are to investigate the use of CRISPR-Cas to remove specific subsets of people from populations.

Following the revelation that specific bacteria can be removed from populations using CRISPR-Cas, advisors to the party realised the huge potential of the system.

“There’s a whole bunch of people we’d like to get rid of”, a spokesman said.  “Mainly Democrats, but if this works, there’s a whole bunch of stuff we could do!”

The CRISPR system works by targetting DNA for cleavage and degradation, and up until now has only been used in a positive way, for example, to cure disease and fix deleterious genetic mutations.

However, actually helping people would be a huge change from traditional Republican Party policy, and it’s no surprise that members are attempting to use the system in a new, evil way.

“Mwuh ha ha ha!  Mwuh ha ha ha ha!” Sarah Satan, of the Mad Tea Party, added.
